Women Veterans: Free Weekly Peer Support Circle, Every Tuesday Online

Women veterans make up one of the fastest-growing segments of the veteran population, and many still struggle to find peer support that reflects their own experience — not a combat narrative that doesn’t fit, and not a clinical appointment that requires travel and child care.

VA News recently highlighted a free resource that addresses this directly.

What It Is

Televeda’s Hero’s Story Project runs a dedicated virtual Talking Circle for women veterans every Tuesday at 3 p.m. Arizona time. It is held online, so there is no commute and no need to arrange child care around a clinic visit.

The sessions are peer-led, not clinician-led. Participants set the pace and share only what they choose to share. The circle is designed around the experiences of women veterans specifically, including survivors of military sexual trauma.

Who It Is For

Any woman veteran who wants peer connection with people who understand her service. Women who are homebound or live far from VA facilities have taken part. There is no enrollment requirement and no cost.

How to Join

Reserve a spot through the class schedule on Televeda’s Hero’s Story Project page. You join from whatever device you have — phone, tablet, or computer.

If you want help applying for VA benefits or enrolling in VA health care while you are connected with the program, facilitators can walk you through that process.

For Post Members and Families

If you know a woman veteran who is isolated or who has stepped back from support — a family member, a neighbor, someone you haven’t heard from in a while — this is a resource worth passing along. It asks nothing more than showing up on a Tuesday afternoon.

For questions about VA health care enrollment or benefits, contact the Department of Utah service officer at utlegion.org or reach VA directly through va.gov.
